Privacy Policy
HarborAR sends data only for the First Mate functions described below.
Effective September 6, 2026.
On opening First Mate
When the operator opens the First Mate screen, HarborAR sends the device’s position to api.weather.gov, a NOAA / National Weather Service system, to fetch the marine forecast for the operator’s zone.
This happens before the operator asks a question.
The National Weather Service is a United States government service.
HarborAR does not retain that position, link it to identity, or use it for tracking.
On drafting a route
Place names typed into route search are sent to Apple Maps with a search region.
Nothing about a route is sent to the harborar.com relay.
On asking a question
When the operator asks a question, HarborAR sends the typed question and a location-linked guidance snapshot to harborar.com.
The snapshot can include the next waypoint name, distance, bearing, cross-track error, ETA, speed, GPS quality, and current safety state.
The harborar.com service forwards the question and the snapshot’s available guidance values to Anthropic’s API at api.anthropic.com to generate the answer.
HarborAR does not retain the question or guidance snapshot after answering.
To enforce the daily limit, the harborar.com service keeps a keyed, date-salted hash of the subscription's transaction identifier until the next UTC midnight; question text, guidance values, and identifiers are never written to logs.
Upstream hosting and API infrastructure may hold transient request logs.
What stays on your device
Camera frames never leave the device.
Field captures are written locally and leave the device only when the operator explicitly shares them.
Usage counters never leave the device.
What is never collected
HarborAR does not use the microphone or speech recognition.
No audio or speech transcript is ever recorded or uploaded.
HarborAR never collects identifiers or account data.
HarborAR includes no advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.
Privacy questions can be sent through the Support page.
